Star Magic talents hoping for brighter 2014
By Isah V. Red | Jan. 02, 2014 | Manila Standard Today
THE scores of talents at ABS-CBN’s talent center did fairly well in the year that just passed. And as they welcome the new year, many of them, especially the major talents that carry the name of the agency like a badge of honor, are hopeful this new year would be as good if not better than the last.
Piolo Pascual, Angelica Panganiban, John Lloyd Cruz, Bea Alonzo, Gerald Anderson, Kim Chiu, Coco Martin, Maja Salvador and Jodi Sta. Maria are all looking forward to a bountiful year, give their respective career added sheen and reward them with bigger material blessings. Let’s see how each of these artists did last year, and how they’re facing the New Year.
Budoy has made Gerald Anderson a certified actor after winning Best Actor for his role in the series from four award giving bodies—the Golden Screen Awards, Gawad Tanglaw, 4th Northwest Samar State University Students Choice Awards, and the 21st KBP Golden Dove Awards.
Gerald was also a revelation in the internationally acclaimed movie On The Job, and was even privileged to attend the Cannes Film Festival where the film was in the Director’s Showcase Category.
Last year, Gerald also starred in Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, where critics again noticed his performance.
Gerald also put his talent in basketball to good use as he initiated various charity games to benefit different organizations and the Yolanda survivors.
This year, Gerald will soon start working on a new movie under Star Cinema and he continues to be one of the celebrity endorsers of Jollibee, Mint, Unisilver, GAOC, and Faces & Curves.

MANILA - The ABS-CBN prime time drama series, 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin,' ended on an inspirational note on Friday, with Miguel (Gerald Anderson) coming to terms with the death of his father after they unveiled the truth behind the controversial rape case involving Carla (Diana Zubiri) and Marcus (Rayver Cruz).
It was then followed by the wedding of Miguel and Amanda (Christine Reyes), where Anderson talks about the importance of friendship, family and loved ones.
When prodded to run for public office, Zenaida (Dawn Zulueta) declines. She also says what the country needs is someone who is honest.

Gerald Anderson admits he is now a stronger person because of the ordeal that his character Miguel on ABS-CBN’s top-rating primetime drama series Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin went through. The series will air its final episode tonight (November 15, 2013).
“Miguel’s unfortunate journey made me realize that we should never give up despite rough challenges. I learned that no matter what trials I face, no one can bring me down,” says Gerald about his character in the Kapamilya TV series.
No extension for 'Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin'
The ABS-CBN's series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" will run for only one season, according to actress Dawn Zulueta. In an interview, Zulueta said she doesn't believe there will be an extension for the series, which stars actor Gerald Anderson.
"I doubt it kasi it's the kind of story na hindi na pwedeng ma-stretch at saka magi-start na nga itong ('You're My Home') kaya tapos na nga ako doon," Zulueta said.
Zulueta revealed that "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" will end in December, while "You're My Home," which pairs her with Richard Gomez anew, will premiere in January.
"Kasi that's 13 weeks that we've finished. Basically tapos na kami so it's just running, hanggang December 'yan," Zulueta said.

After getting positive reviews for his role as a killer for hire in his most recent film OTJ, Gerald Anderson said he believes he was able to prove his versatility as an actor. From starting out as a teen housemate on Pinoy Big Brother in 2006, the Fil-American heartthrob said it was a refreshing experience to play such a gritty character.
