Dawn Jimenez denies rumored romance with Gerald Anderson: “Ayokong maging reason ng isang breakup. I’ve never been a third party.”
by Melba R. Llanera
“People can say their own opinion, para sa akin, ‘wag na lang paapekto.”
THIRD PARTY?
“Never, never!" bulalas niya.
"Siyempre naman, ayoko namang maging number two, gusto kong maging number one.
“Saka siyempre, ayokong maging reason ng isang breakup.
"I’ve never been a third party.”
Gerald Anderson in a different league of acting
By Allan Policarpio
Philippine Daily Inquirer
Looking back on his experience working on his latest movie, the crime thriller “On the Job,” Gerald Anderson couldn’t help feeling “blessed and lucky” that he was given a “rare opportunity” to be in the company of Piolo Pascual and Joel Torre—two actors in show biz whom he emulates.
In the movie directed by Erik Matti, Gerald plays Daniel, prisoner-turned-hitman under the tutelage of fellow inmate Mario (Joel). Acting alongside the veteran, Gerald pointed out, was at once enjoyable and enriching for himself as a maturing actor.
“I learned and absorbed a lot from Tito Joel. He was my mentor for the film, and now, also for life,” Gerald told the Inquirer. “I picked up a lot of things simply by observing him.”
On the other hand, Piolo—who plays Francis, an NBI agent tasked to hunt down Daniel—has always been one of Gerald’s idols since joining show biz in 2006 via “Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition.”
“Working with [Piolo] was a dream come true,” Gerald said. “He was like an elder brother. Not everything’s rosy in show biz; you go through a lot. It’s good to have someone you can talk to.”
The 24-year-old has so far starred mostly in romantic-comedies or dramas, and has been raring to do something different—
specifically, an action movie. Though initially shocked upon learning that he would portray a rough-acting, potty-mouthed contract killer, Gerald said it motivated him even more to accept the role.
The Kapamilya star shared with scribes at a recent press con that he did his own research to prepare for the movie, and also presented his own ideas to Matti. “I watched a lot of movies about hitmen, and tried to learn more about life in prison,” he related. “On the first day of shooting, I told Direk I wanted to shave my eyebrows and do something radically different with my hair… I imagined how Daniel should look.”
One of Gerald’s most memorable experiences working on “OTJ”—declared Jury’s Choice at the recent Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in Korea—was doing a love scene with newbie Dawn Jimenez, which reportedly took eight hours to finish. “We did a lot of different shots… I thought it was kind of awkward for Dawn because it was just her second day on the set. I tried to make her feel comfortable,” Gerald said, adding that the scene turned out beautifully.
Meanwhile, “surreal” was how Gerald described the feeling of attending this year’s Cannes Film Festival, where “On the Job” premiered in the Directors’ Fortnight and ended in a two-minute standing ovation. He recounted standing under the spotlights inside the dark Theater Croisette after the screening.
“Seeing so many people appreciating the film, the acting, the craft… It was so overwhelming, but at the same time humbling as an actor,” he said.
Gerald never imagined that acting would take him to places—literally and figuratively. He said he left Cannes a more educated and inspired actor, and that newfound drive he would take wherever he goes and whatever he does.
Produced by Reality Entertainment and Star Cinema, the movie opens in cinemas today.

“The love scenes that we have for Piolo and Gerald—si Piolo with Shaina, Gerald and Dawn—yung dalawang love scenes na yun are necessary to put forward sa story.

Gerald and Dawn's love scene lasted for 8 hours!
August 20, 2013
Written by : Vinia Vivar
Una siyang napansin sa The Animals ng Cinemalaya Film Festival last year kung saan ay isa siya sa bida with Albi Casiño as her leading man.
“And for me it’s worth it, dahil nakaabot ng Cannes Film Festival and si Gerald naman ’yung kasama, so it’s all worth it,” she said.

"Masakit sa labi!", Gerald Anderson shared when his On The Job Director Erik Matti talked about his 8-hour love scene shoot with newcomer Dawn Jimenez. It was different. It was artistic and beautiful naman", the young actor narrated.

During the second bloggers conference held for the Reality Films-made and Star Cinema-distributed movie in ABS-CBN earlier today, it was Erik Matti who proudly discussed how he pushed his actors to a different level of acting in the internationally-recognized film. Nagulat siya", Matti shared with a laugh.
"I tried to make her comfortable. I did my best to make the scene very realistic", Gerald shared when I asked how he guided Dawn in doing the love scene. "Second day pa lang sa shoot, yun agad ginawa namin. Nakakailang. Nakakagulat", he added. In the fast paced movie, Gerald considered doing the love scene more difficult than doing the action sequences. The young actor also considered his intimate scene with Dawn the most challenging he did so far.
Meanwhile, when a reporter asked for the reaction of Maja Salvador, Gerald's girlfriend, the young actor replied "Secret", declining to explain further if Maja became a reason for the delays in shooting the love scene. The Pinoy Big Brother Teens First Prince also dismissed rumors on him being ready for more intimate scenes in his future movies.

In the movie, which reaped praised from the critics when it was shown in Cannes Film Festival, Gerald portrays an inmate named Daniel who will turn into a hitman or a professional killer. He co-stars with Piolo Pascual who plays an NBI Agent hunting Daniel. Piolo, for his part also had his share of intimate scenes in the movie which Matti shares is even longer than that of Gerald's. "Two days ata yun", Matti remarked.
"On The Job" was one of the three Filipino movies showcased in Cannes this year but was it got the most positive reviews. "I was very happy when nag standing ovation sila for almost two minutes after the movie. "Even if it took 4 years to make this movie, wala naman ako regrets. It was worth it and it's my first movie which was sent to an international festival- sa number 1 festival pa!", he added.
Joel Torre, one of the movie's powerhouse cast in the film, also gave positive feedbacks for Gerald's performance. "He and Piolo delivered, definitely. You can never go wrong with talent", the veteran actor said.
On The Job is the fifth anniversary offering of Star Cinema after Four Sisters and a Wedding, Tuhog, Bakit Di Ka Crush Ng Crush Mo? and Ekstra. With rights of the movie purchased for international wide release in USA, Canada and Japan, this action masterpiece is set for nationwide release on August 28, 2013.
